Cody and Janie had their engagement session at Janie’s grandmother’s house in Danville. Her grandmother’s farm is beautiful and had the perfect golden hour glow. Meeting these two was so much fun. I had initially been chatting with Janie’s mom Mary because Janie is getting her masters in equine immunology at Virginia Tech and it’s keeping her busy (as I’m sure you can imagine). But as soon as I got to chat with Cody and Janie, we hit it off immediately. Little Claire even came up to me and hugged me right away… it melted my heart. Just wait till you see how adorable she is.
They wanted to include Claire in a few of their pictures at the beginning of their session, and I’m so glad we did. She’s the cutest little thing in the entire world; she has a heart of gold. I can’t wait to hang out with her on their wedding day… I have a feeling that she might be my little buddy!
They are naturals and wonderfully photogenic, so it didn’t take but a few minutes for them to learn the four core poses. Knowing these four core poses will make their wedding day portraits even more fun. Cody hates the word “nuzzle” which is one that I frequently use during engagement sessions, so we switched it to “nudge”. It’s not quite as endearing, but it did the trick. Instead of Cody being repulsed by the word “nudge,” he looked much happier. Using the word “nudge” also made Janie laugh, so I think it’s safe to say it was a win for these two!
Zack and I loved our time with Cody and Janie. They are so easy going and fun to be around. We can’t wait for their 2019 wedding. It seems so far away, but I know that it will be here before we know it! Enjoy some of my favorites from their golden hour engagement session and then excited to see these two on their wedding day next summer at Glencliff Manor! It’s going to be a dream!
