During Derek and Courtney’s engagement session, we spent time getting to know them and hearing all about their families, their dreams and their future plans. One of my favorite things about a wedding day is that Zack and I get to finally meet all of the people that we have heard our couple speak so highly of. It was so lovely to be surrounded by so much love and adoration for this sweet couple.

It may have been the last weekend in October but it was a beautiful 70 degrees and the leaves decided to stay on the trees just long enough for us to take some beautiful portraits! We were working rapid-fire after the ceremony to get everything accomplished but you would never know it in their portraits! Derek and Courtney are pros. Teresa at Glencliff saved some butterflies for us to place in Courtney’s hair and view during their portraits and um, they are my favorites!!

They are both so sweet, loving, gentle and a joy to work with and it saddens me that our time with them is over! They are going to do incredible things as now they are both nurses at Duke in North Carolina. It was an honor to spend their wedding day with them as their photographers!
