This was a special engagement session for me; I’ve known Kimberly for about six years! We were both lifeguards in Snellville, and it just happens that her parents live in my parent’s neighborhood! …And both of our mothers are Donnas, oh, Donnas. 😉 We always had so much fun working together (and tanning).
Kimberly always told me that she wanted me to photographer her wedding day one day. I was so flattered by it, and look where we are now! I hadn’t met Austin yet, but I knew I’d love him. They are both so fun together, and we all picked up like we’d been friends forever. Being able to have great conversations with your friends/clients is something means so much to me. Knowing about their life, their struggles, and their plans for the future is something that I will never take for granted.
We met at Stone Mountain Park in Georgia, somewhere that’d we all spent time at growing up in Snellville. We started at the Gris Mill, and I was shocked at how many people were there. I never remembered seeing that many people there before, but we sure worked around. From there, we moved to the covered bridge and dodged the cars that made their way through. For a Sunday, it sure was crowded. We finally made our way to the top of the mountain, using the skylift. I didn’t realize that Austin didn’t handle heights well until the skylift was almost to the top of the stone mountain and he had to acknowledge the height. He was such a good sport, though! Thank goodness because climbing the mountain was not on my or Kimberly’s agenda that day.
The top of the mountain was as crowded as the other areas of the park. But the light was stunning, and the gray granite of the mountain acted as a natural reflector which resulted in beautiful light and true to life skin tones. We made our way to some more of the private places on the mountain, and I am so thrilled with how their engagement session turned out.
I can’t wait for their November wedding, so I get to hang out with these two in Downtown Atlanta. I can’t express how much fun I had with Austin and Kimberly. My goodness, I love my job!
